Calcutta Lions Netra Niketan is a project of Lions Club of Calcutta Trust inaugurated on 1st November 1992 and had ventured into the arena of eye care to create an iconic model infrastructure incorporating all latest features. Its goal is to develop and implement state-of-art eye care delivery system with quality ophthalmic facilities at an affordable price for all. It also conducts development studies for bringing reformative changes in the eyecare delivery system especially for the people of the downtrodden society.
It is located in the sylvIan backdrop of Golf Green, Kolkata in the State of West Bengal (INDIA) and surrounded by suburban areas like 24 Parganas South & North, Hooghly, Howrah and many more. Beings well connected with leading road transport system which enables an easy accessibility to all.
Since 1992, this initiative is functioning with 20 indoor beds as a public charitable model with an aim to emulate and replicate this model to different part of the city more particularly in the localities with people from economically back ward class and in turn help the Government to implement the ophthalmic care in the real sense.
Further, the facilities here have been geared up to handle and support all national health programs such as DBCS, NPCB etc. This project also undertakes counseling services, NGO participation, social involvement, preventive eye care, sanitation, hygiene and safe water supply to the community apart from patient/consumer education and awareness on rights and responsibilities.
